The sun was finally shining on the Rock of Gibraltar in time for a relaxed evening of networking, knowledge sharing and…crypto cocktails! The historical and family run Queens Picturehouse and Eatery, provided a unique venue in the iconic Casemates Square, Gibraltar. The individual Gibraltar venue with its original cinema memorabilia was a perfect backdrop for inspiring conversations and open knowledge-sharing about crypto, blockchain technology and innovation, digital currency and the future of money, how we bank, spend and invest.
Gibraltar’s forward-thinking, innovative approach has led it to become the world premier cryptocurrency hub. Gibraltar introduced regulation of cryptocurrency operators in the jurisdiction in January 2018, in an attempt to future-proof the territory’s status as a FinTech hub, and over 4 years later the importance of the crypto community is ever present.
Attendees at the event included cryptocurrency and DLT firms who have already been approved by the GFSC as DLT Providers, alongside representatives of companies currently in the process of applying for a DLT license or looking to locate their business in Gibraltar for regulatory purposes.
As other countries watch closely at the success of the crypto asset industry in Gibraltar, Gibraltar continues to work hard to secure its reputation as “Blockchain Rock”, supported by world leading crypto law practices and professional service providers.
Prior to the event in this spirit of innovation, Pete Burgess, events organiser from Crypto Gibraltar, ran a poll to decide on the best crypto cocktail name. The prize for the winning name, which was presented on the night by RecruitBlock MD, Paul Owen, was seats for a screening at the Queens private cinema.

The winning cocktail name was ‘Cryptonite’ (a blackberry flavored raspberry gin cocktail), the runner up, which was also enjoyed on the evening, was the Long Island NFTea. Other name suggestions included ‘Mint to be’ and ‘Hair of the Dodge’
Gibraltar Crypto Community Meetups, sponsored by RecruitBlock, will be held quarterly at the Queens Picturehouse with the next event scheduled for Thursday 30th June 2022.
On 23rd-24th September 2022 Crypto Gibraltar will also be holding the next annual Gibraltar Cryptocurrency Summit which will host crypto enthusiasts from across the globe.
