TECH BUSINESSES ARE BOUNCING BACK FROM THE INITIAL HIT FROM THE CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC. HIRING IN THE UK DIGITAL TECH SECTOR IS ACCELERATING WITH ADVERTISED ROLES RISING 36% BETWEEN JUNE AND AUGUST. OVER 90,000 JOBS A WEEK WERE ADVERTISED IN AUGUST 2020 (TECHNATION; JOBS AND SKILLS REPORT 2020)

London remains the leading UK location for tech talent.

#1 LONDON

London remains the leading UK location for tech talent. It had most digital tech roles advertised (125,000 in the reporting period). In addition the highest median digital tech salary (£55,000 p.a.) can be found in London, where there has been a 3% year-on-year median salary increase.

BOUNCE-BACK

When coronavirus forced a nationwide lockdown, start-ups and scale-ups had to respond. As a result we’ve seen the UK tech sector being agile in its response. Many companies moved to large-scale remote working and have successfully insulated their talent from the adverse impacts witnessed in other sectors.

Prior to the coronavirus pandemic, 19% of UK job vacancies were in the digital tech industry (TechNation; Jobs and Skills Report 2020). At RecruitBlock we have continued to support our clients talent needs.  Demand for talent remaining buoyant especially for software developers and architects. Cyber security and cryptography specialists are particularly in-demand for start-ups in the crypto, digital asset and DeFi spaces.
