Our client is a leading platform for cross-border payments that remits via crypto and offers a retail crypto platform, OTC crypto trading and other innovative cryptocurrency related products. We’re supporting their recruitment for a Managing Director for the Gibraltar operations. As the MD you’ll be a senior leader within the international business, responsible for the execution and delivery of plans, the strategy of the group and assisting to establish a local office for regulated crypto activities from Gibraltar.
You will be a commercially focused executive and will be responsible for representing the company with the GFSC during its licensing processes. You’ll ensure the strategy of the business is aligned with the wider group through close cooperation at executive level and that successful product development is governed by local regulations, ensuring the business operates within the regulatory requirements determined by the GFSC (Gibraltar Financial Services Commission).

Role
✔ Establish and implement policies, procedures, systems and controls for all operational, compliance and finance activities in Gibraltar. ✔ Develop and implement commercial strategies aimed to accelerate growth according to company goals and objectives. ✔ Conduct market research and analysis to create detailed business plans on commercial opportunities (expansion, business development etc.) ✔ Understand the requirements of existing customers to ensure their needs are being met. ✔ Act to acquire new customers and manage client relationships (new and existing). ✔ Recruit, develop and provide leadership to the local Gibraltar team. ✔ Collaborate with and coordinate diverse teams (marketing, sales, customer service etc.) ✔ Build and maintain profitable partnerships with key stakeholders. ✔ Monitor performance of commercial activities using key metrics and prepare reports for senior management. ✔ Assist in setting financial targets and budget development and monitoring.
Skills ✔ Proven experience as a self-motivated senior leader or MD who can build a multi-disciplinary team in a high paced environment. ✔ Successful experience as a commercial/managing director or similar, preferably within a FinTech / Crypto business. ✔ Ability to build effective working relationships within a multinational environment. ✔ Proven experience in managing relationships with key clients. ✔ Business development, sales and/or marketing experience. ✔ Commercial awareness partnered with a strategic mindset. ✔ Excellent organizational and leadership skills. ✔ Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities. ✔ Understanding of the regulated payments and/or crypto industry. ✔ Bachelor’s degree in business management, finance, accounting or related field. ✔ Experience reporting to market regulatory authorities desirable. ✔ Experience or strong interest in blockchain and/or cryptocurrencies desirable.
