RecruitBlock is partnering with a market leading crypto exchange and wallet developer who provide millions access to crypto trading and dApps through a brand that is also trusted by hundreds of large institutions. They are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Compliance Europe who will be responsible for leading and building out a growing team, based from their MiCA hub in Malta.
This role will be hybrid based.

🧩 How will you spend your time at work?
· Lead the Europe compliance team providing strategic direction, training and advisory support to our business partners / stakeholders with regards to compliance, in a constantly evolving regulatory environment.
· Develop and maintain robust compliance policies, procedures, controls and frameworks.
· Engage cross-functionally to implement an effective compliance management program, in line with the global standards and industry best practices
· Monitor and assess compliance with Malta / EU laws, regulations and policies, particularly as they pertain to compliance.
· Oversee annual, periodic and on-demand compliance reviews and investigations, including but not limited to compliance monitoring programme reviews, annual policy updates / refreshes, and compliance risk assessments.
· Participate in Board committee and sub-committee meetings, whether as a member or on an as-needed basis.
· Conduct and oversee company training schedule.
· Act as first port of call for business team members in compliance issues and advise accordingly.
· Prepare compliance reports, including reports to management and the board, and other materials as required by direct and matrix stakeholders
· Oversee compliance reviews and investigations
⭐ Here’s what you’ll bring to this Head of Compliance Europe role;
· Extensive experience in regulatory compliance within financial services, payments companies, fintech or cryptocurrency sectors.
· Experience of leading and overseeing an effective compliance management program in line with Malta / EU standards, and an awareness of local and international industry best practices.
· Strong leadership experience, including dealing with senior business stakeholders.
· Previously held a regulated compliance approved person in a banking, payments, or crypto firm, or otherwise able to demonstrate sufficient experience in senior compliance roles, with corresponding responsibilities to those specified above.
· Working knowledge and experience of developing compliance policies to ensure compliance with EU financial regulations e.g. MfID, MICA and GDPR.
· Proven ability to work within and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
· Self-motivated, critical thinker and adept at working independently and in a dispersed team environment covering multiple and varied tasks.
· Intuitive, highly ethical and comfortable to question and challenge.
