Advise on products, transactions and market expansion across institutional digital assets.

Organisation overview
Our client is an established digital-asset and financial-technology organisation serving institutional and professional customers. The business is developing its product range and commercial relationships across trading, financing and digital markets. It requires an experienced in-house lawyer who can connect legal analysis with practical execution.
The appointment
The Legal Counsel will advise on product development, commercial agreements and transactions involving digital assets and related financial products. The appointment combines contract ownership with broader responsibility for legal risk across new initiatives, counterparties and changing market structures.
This is suited to a commercially grounded lawyer who can analyse complex questions, set clear boundaries and help senior stakeholders move from concept to controlled delivery.
Key responsibilities
· Advise Product, Markets and Commercial teams on the legal structure and delivery of new products and services.
· Draft, review and negotiate agreements covering financing, trading, collateral, custody, technology and strategic partnerships.
· Assess legal exposure arising from counterparties, asset control, default, recovery and cross-border activity.
· Interpret relevant financial-services and digital-asset requirements and support product governance from scoping through launch.
· Coordinate external counsel and translate legal and market developments into focused recommendations for senior management.
· Develop practical templates, playbooks and approval processes that improve consistency without slowing responsible execution.
Experience and capability
· Qualification to practise law in an appropriate jurisdiction, supported by relevant in-house or private-practice experience.
· Strong commercial contracting or transactional capability gained in financial services, fintech, capital markets or digital assets.
· Experience advising on complex products or structures where Legal, Risk, Compliance and Operations must work together.
· A sound understanding of digital-asset markets, or the ability to transfer closely relevant experience from established financial services.
· Clear drafting, negotiation and communication skills, with the confidence to work independently and challenge constructively.
Leadership and stakeholder context
The Legal Counsel will work closely with senior Legal leadership and engage regularly with Product, Markets, Risk, Compliance, Finance and Operations. The role will be expected to influence important decisions through clear advice, sound drafting and proportionate challenge.
