RecruitBlock is partnering with a blockchain analytics and crypto exchange platform that has seen rapid growth. With Seed and Series A fundraising rounds completed and nearly 2m subscribers this company has an exciting growth plan. It’s now looking for an Data Engineer to join the Compliance Technology team to develop data-driven solutions that ensure regulatory adherence of their cryptocurrency exchange.
This role will be New York tristate (NY, NJ, CT) based starting WFH but transitioning to hybrid at a future point in time.

Leveraging proprietary AI to systematically analyse blockchain transactions, deliver comprehensive digital asset data, analytics and exchange trading.

🧩 How will you spend your time at work?
· Set up and maintain platforms related to data ingestion and metrics reporting
· Create ETL/ELT workflows to efficiently ingest and transform data for compliance monitoring and reporting.
· Collaborate with compliance, legal, and product teams to define data requirements aligned with KYC/AML regulations and other global standards.
· Develop and maintain data schemas and models optimized for compliance analytics and reporting.
· Build systems for detecting suspicious activity, including fraud, money laundering, and other high-risk behaviors.
· Leverage advanced analytics and machine learning to enhance anomaly detection and automate compliance processes.
· Ensure secure handling of sensitive customer and transactional data.
· Work cross-functionally with compliance, legal and engineering to integrate compliance tools and streamline workflows.
· Respond to and fulfill data requests from various internal stakeholders ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery.
· Provide actionable insights and datasets to support audits, regulatory inquiries, and risk assessments.
⭐ Here’s what you’ll bring to this Data Engineer role in New York;
· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
· Strong experience in data engineering or a similar role.
· Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.
· Strong experience with SQL and relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL).
· Familiarity with Linux/MacOS environments
· Familiarity with blockchain technologies and cryptocurrency ecosystems.
· Understanding of regulatory requirements like KYC/AML and FATF guidelines preferable.
· Hands-on experience with compliance solutions for centralized exchanges helpful.
· Experience with compliance analytics platforms such as Chainalysis or Elliptic desirable
· Ability to translate complex technical concepts into business-focused deliverables.
