VP Sanctions and Regulatory Compliance

RecruitBlock is partnering with a crypto intelligence platform that has seen rapid growth. With Seed and Series A fundraising rounds completed and nearly 2m subscribers this company has an exciting growth plan. It’s now looking for a VP/AVP Sanctions and Regulatory Compliance to oversee all sanctions-related compliance across its’ operations, ensuring adherence to global sanctions laws through effective integration into all compliance processes.

The VP/AVP Sanctions and Regulatory Compliance will manage sanctions screening, transaction monitoring (TM), transaction screening (TS) and Know Your Transaction (KYT) processes, while handling escalations related to potential sanctions violations. You will work closely with the Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) and other compliance teams to ensure the business remains compliant with evolving international regulations, mitigating sanctions-related risks.

This role will be New York tristate (NY, NJ, CT) based starting WFH but transitioning to hybrid at a future point in time.

🧩 How will you spend your time at work?

· Lead a comprehensive sanctions compliance program, ensuring adherence to global sanctions regimes (e.g., OFAC, UN, EU) across all compliance teams.

· Collaborate with CCO to design, implement and maintain sanctions screening frameworks integrated with KYT, TM and TS processes, ensuring that sanctions compliance is a priority at all levels.

· Develop and maintain escalation procedures for potential sanctions violations, managing investigations and coordinating with legal and compliance teams as needed.

· Oversee the management and resolution of sanctions-related alerts across all compliance teams, ensuring that potential violations are investigated and appropriately escalated.

· Implement robust sanctions screening systems within the transaction monitoring and transaction screening workflows to ensure real-time compliance with sanctions regulations.

· Work closely with compliance, legal, product and technology teams to ensure sanctions measures are embedded within the overall compliance infrastructure.

· Oversee the integration of sanctions-related compliance into customer onboarding, KYC and due diligence processes, ensuring that high-risk individuals and entities are properly identified and managed.

· Provide strategic guidance to internal teams on sanctions risk management, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and best practices in sanctions compliance.

· Monitor global regulatory developments related to sanctions, ensuring the business remains compliant with evolving sanctions laws.

· Regularly review and update sanctions compliance policies and procedures, identifying areas for improvement and ensuring alignment with international regulatory standards.

· Develop comprehensive reports on sanctions compliance, presenting findings and key metrics to senior leadership and making recommendations for strategic improvements.

· Liaise with external regulators and auditors, ensuring full transparency and proactive engagement with sanctions-related inquiries.

⭐ Here’s what you’ll bring to this VP/AVP Sanctions and Regulatory Compliance role in New York;

· Proven experience in sanctions compliance, KYT and regulatory risk management within the crypto, fintech or financial services industries.

· Deep understanding of global sanctions regimes (e.g., OFAC, UN, EU) and the ability to manage compliance frameworks across multiple compliance teams.

· Experience with transaction monitoring, transaction screening, and sanctions alert management, including the use of automated compliance tools.

· Strong leadership and communication skills, with experience managing cross-functional teams and ensuring alignment on sanctions-related risks and compliance priorities.

· Ability to engage with internal stakeholders, regulators, and external auditors effectively, with a focus on strategic compliance management and risk mitigation.

· Self-starter with the ability to work independently while maintaining a strong focus on achieving organizational compliance goals
