RecruitBlock is partnering with an established global fintech company specializing in brokerage and capital market services who provide a comprehensive suite of trading and investment solutions to institutional clients, including brokers, banks, asset managers and fintech firms. Reporting into the Board, this Head of Digital Assets role offers a unique opportunity to lead the design, implementation and global growth of the digital asset proposition with ownership of the product and go-to-market strategy.

Our client is an established FinTech that serves financial institutions and fintech partners worldwide, with a presence in Europe, the Middle East, Asia-Pacific, Africa and the Americas. It has a team of over 600 professionals in financial hubs including Dubai, Singapore, London, Hong Kong and New York. It holds broker-dealer and capital market services licenses in multiple jurisdictions, ensuring compliance and operational security for its clients. 

 

The Head of Digital Assets Mission 

You will lead the design, implementation and global growth of the digital asset proposition, with an initial focus on cryptocurrencies. Owning the product and go-to-market strategy, you’ll work cross-functionally to deliver a robust, compliant and scalable trading and custody platform. The long-term strategy will extend to all digital asset classes, such as tokenised securities, stablecoins and central bank digital currencies (CBDCs). You will be commercially driven, technologically savvy and regulatory aware – able to balance innovation with governance in a rapidly evolving landscape. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

Strategy & Execution

·        Develop and execute product and go-to-market strategy, targeting growth in B2B2C clients, trading volumes, AUC and revenue.

·        Lead the evaluation, selection and integration of third-party software platforms for trading and custody, ensuring compatibility with existing systems.

·        Prepare business plans, budgets and define KPIs to measure commercial success and operational performance.

·        Define long-term digital asset strategy to include tokenised traditional assets, stablecoins and other regulated digital instruments.

·        Collaborate with executive leadership to harmonise the global digital asset roadmap and identify commercial synergies.

Regulatory Readiness & Compliance

·        Build and maintain operational segregation between cryptocurrency services and traditional asset classes to meet FCA expectations.

·        Lead development of all necessary policies, procedures and controls to prepare for full regulatory compliance, setting best practice standards globally.

·        Stay ahead of global regulatory developments in digital assets and translate these into actionable plans and roadmaps. 

·        Liaise with internal and external stakeholder to ensure ongoing alignment and readiness across jurisdictions.

Product Development & Operations

·        Oversee end-to-end client lifecycle from onboarding to transaction monitoring, wallet management and safekeeping.

·        Collaborate with technology and operations teams to ensure secure, scalable and resilient infrastructure is in place.

·        Specify business requirements for technology teams to develop APIs and frontends supporting trading, reference data and pricing.

·        Manage strategic relationships and commercial agreements with exchanges and emerging digital asset marketplaces, ensuring optimal execution and service standards.

Client Engagement & Commercial Growth

·        Act as the internal and external champion for digital assets, promoting adoption among existing and new institutional clients and partners.

·        Partner with sales, marketing and client support teams to position and promote the digital asset platform, leading the creation of sales and marketing materials.

·        Engage directly with institutional and platform clients to understand their evolving needs and adapt the offering accordingly; participate in presales, demos, and sales activities.

 

Key Requirements

·        Proven experience in cryptocurrency or digital asset trading, custody, or infrastructure (preferably B2B or B2B2C).

·        Strong understanding of the UK and international regulatory landscapes for digital assets, with foresight into emerging developments across asset classes.

·        Demonstrated success in launching or scaling technology-driven financial products, ideally in capital markets or institutional fintech.

·        Familiarity with third-party infrastructure providers for crypto and digital assets, and their integration into traditional financial systems.

·        Strategic mindset with strong commercial acumen and a client-centric approach.

·        Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including board-level reporting.

·        Experience managing cross-functional teams, including technology, operations, compliance and commercial units.
