RecruitBlock is exclusively recruiting a Director of Risk & Compliance for a global blockchain company behind the world’s largest digital asset exchange by trading volume and users. They are seeking a Compliance and Risk Leader for their Gibraltar business, which will be regulated by the GFSC, who is passionate to contribute to them delivering the cryptocurrency revolution that is changing the world.

Role ✔ Act as an Approved Person with the GFSC and a local Executive Director of the Gibraltar entity. ✔ Responsible for the effective implementation of overall risk strategy for the business. ✔ Establish and implement an operational risk and governance framework to ensure a robust, controlled environment and create an operational KRI Matrix alongside different stakeholders. ✔ Conduct regular audits and self-risk assessments for the business. ✔ Identifying and implementing appropriate controls and risk mitigants. ✔ Development and management of compliance policies and processes. ✔ Ensure ongoing monitoring and reporting. ✔ Coordinating various regulatory filings. ✔ Focusing on internal compliance policy review, including ongoing assessments, assisting with compliance review, internal audit reviews and ongoing or ad hoc reviews. ✔ Act as a second line of defence to monitor, identify, measure and report all risk-related matters. ✔ Provide incident management oversight and support the business owners in responding to investigations, resolving incident reports and escalations. ✔ Guide the business on operational risk management. ✔ Ensure business models and supporting systems continually mitigate risk to maintain the protection and integrity of data and resources. ✔ Promote a risk-aware culture across the company by organizing educational and training workshops.
Skills ✔ A self-motivated leader with proven experience in a similar Risk Compliance or Regulatory role within a FinTech environment, with crypto experience highly advantageous. ✔ Strong practical knowledge of risk frameworks and operational risk reporting experience. ✔ Excellent stakeholder management and collaboration skills. ✔ Effective written and verbal communication skills. ✔ Ability to troubleshoot and discover answers quickly and effectively. ✔ Able to work under pressure, multitask and prioritize in a fast moving and challenging business environment. ✔ Able to operate as a key member of an international team. ✔ Passion for cryptocurrency / digital assets / blockchain advantageous.
