Our Crypto client is partnered with a global bank and fintech company based in the U.K. and are looking for a Chief Compliance & MLRO who is passionate to work in the crypto industry and work alongside the founders to build the next generation, fully regulated crypto platform.

As Chief Compliance & MLRO you’ll be a mission-driven leader with significant experience developing and implementing practical compliance programs in a high regulated, collaborative and fast -paced environment. Our Crypto client is seeking to become regulated in Gibraltar as a DLT provider and will be seeking other relevant licenses in Switzerland, Lithuania and the UK.

Gibraltar based, you’ll be responsible for overseeing the strategy and implementation of the compliance and MLRO program that operates, interacting directly with regulators and ensuring that policies and procedures are designed to comply with related laws and regulations as well as internal requirements and MLRO.

Role

✔ Effectively identify and mitigate legal and regulatory risk and embed the highest standards of compliance and MLRO. ✔ Develop, maintain and review policies, procedures and processes to ensure compliance with applicable internal and legal standards. ✔ Design, implement and monitor controls across relevant parts of the company to mitigate the risk of illegal or improper conduct. ✔ Provide regular feedback to the COO and CEO regarding the design and operation of the compliance program, key risks and issues, emerging trends and the adequacy and effectiveness of compliance program operations and resourcing. ✔ Identify, propose and implement appropriate technology solutions and compliance assurance systems to facilitate compliance with current and anticipated laws and regulations. ✔ Identify and ensure the quality of data and analytical methods needed to fulfill compliance oversight requirements. ✔ Ensure the company stays current on applicable regulations and “best practices.” ✔ Monitor trends and patterns across the payments platform to identify potential risks and take appropriate action to mitigate such risks. ✔ Manage audits and inspections from external parties and ensure findings are remediated appropriately. ✔ Serve as a liaison for government organisations in their domain. ✔ Deploy and maintain industry leading customer due diligence and compliance monitoring process, as well as all processes related to its prevention and handling. ✔ Working with local regulators and keeping abreast of regulatory developments so that the company ensures effective compliance and adapt quickly to change. ✔ Oversee regulatory visits and external compliance audits.

Skills

✔  Proven senior managerial level experience in a Compliance/ MLRO role within a FinTech/ Crypto with an excellent working knowledge of the Gibraltar Financial Services Commission (GFSC) ✔  Strong understanding and passion for the crypto industry. ✔  Excellent knowledge and experience with Gibraltar Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) license applications. ✔  Good relationship and past experiences interacting with GFSC, experience with other European regulatory bodies advantageous. ✔  Excellent understanding of compliance and risk frameworks and crypto industry relevant regulatory and legal aspects and frameworks. ✔  Holding a CAMS or other compliance related certificates is highly preferred. ✔  Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills. ✔  Able to multitask, problem-solve and prioritize in an effective and efficient manner. ✔  Able to operate as a key member of an international team. ✔  Passion to work in an entrepreneurial, start-up environment, building a start-up alongside the Founders.
